I'll post potentially useful tips for Update 22 in this thread. Feel free to add yours or start a new thread.
There are several ways to get to the new area. If you have the Dwarf Allegiance port, you can just step outside the door, since Erebor is in the new area. There is a stable there to tag. It is a short ride south from Erebor to Dale and Lake-town to tag the stables.
You can stable to Tham Taerdol from Ost Galadh in Mirkwood. You must have opened Mirkwood to get to Ost Galadh. If you have also done Lothlorien, you can stable South Bree -> Rivendell -> Inner Caras Galadhon -> Ost Galadh -> Tham Taerdol.
You can stable to Dale or Lake-town from South Bree. It will cost you 1 Mithril Coin if you haven't discovered it (be sure to tag the stable when you get there).

You continue the Black Book quest line by talking to Gandalf by the Black Gate.
After running around Mordor, you go to Dol Guldur. After completing a quest instance, you will get as quest reward a teal item level 340 2 slot chest armour. If you have not already gotten the item level 337 ash armour and can manage with what you have until you reach this point, you can save 1750 ashes.
You also get another trait point!
Inside Dol Guldur, there is a solo quest instance. However, the solo part is all drama. After a bit, the instance will end with you still in the same location (I didn't notice it at first and was confused). At that point you will be given a quest that requires fighting and finding some things. Note where you are on the map, as you will have to return (I didn't and got quite lost). Since you are no longer in an instance, mobs respawn and you might encounter other players. You could group at this point if you have trouble with the mobs.
The quest Searching for Iphantemel requires to you go to a spot and confront a Sap Harvester spider. They spawn from a tree at 17.6N 39.0W. You can trigger one by getting close enough. The quest says Approach one of the spiders. It will attack you.
The problem is you don't want to kill it too fast. It needs to be damaged enough so it says that it flees. That will advance the quest. I kept killing them, but nothing happened. I changed to just do autoattacks and that got it low enough to make it flee before it was dead.
In Erebor, the quest Forging Trust requires you to talk to 4 Mistrustful Dwarves. There has been a problem with one of the dwarves not appearing. People have suggested cancelling the wrapper quest Reforging a Kingdom (while keeping the Forging Trust quest) and coming back later to retake the wrapper quest will cause the last Mistrustful Dwarf to appear.
It is possible this has been fixed despite there not being an update. Today, trying it for the first time on Wrytune, I picked up the two quests, immediately went to the last dwarf and he was there. I did the other three and completed it without any trouble. Here's where I found them:
On the map of Erebor, the north half has 5 areas on each side, and an upper level and lower level. The first Mysterious Dwarf is in the first (northernmost) area downstairs on the left. The second is between the third and fourth areas upstairs on the left. The third is between the second and third areas upstairs on the right.
The last dwarf is in a group of 3 on the left side of the central hallway south of the narrow part of Erebor. If you stand at Runi Lore-master on the right side of the hall, look past the near group of 3 dwarves to a group of 3 dwarves on the other side of the hall. That's where I found the last Mistrustful Dwarf.
The quest Saving Sterkist contains the quest instance Deep in the Darkening Wood. It is solo-only. It took 4 failures before I figured out the boss fight.
The instance starts with you escorting the Beorning Langhar as she fights 28 Taurogrim (taking almost 10 minutes). She has almost 400k morale and generally tanks, so this part was straightforward, but a combination of stuns and roots did cause me to die before I got to the boss a couple times.
She stops when she gets to a log bridge. Borzagor the Grisly is on the other side of the bridge with two Taurogrim. Doing a normal fight didn't work, even when I killed the boss, adds got me. On the fourth attempt, I had killed the two Taurogrim but when I killed the boss, several more Taurogrim immediatley spawned and killed me. However, I noticed that Langhar had yelled something about stunning the boss. Unfortunately, it just flashed on the screen, there was nothing in the log.
The fifth time, I again killed the two Taurogrim but waited to see what would happen. When Langhar yelled she had stunned the boss (I don't recall the exact wording), I ran across the bridge. This was the key, because Thorlind was there. Langhar kept the boss busy and I DPSed from the bridge. Now when he died, there were no spawns and it completed.
I don't know if this is the only way to do this instance, but the direct approach didn't work for me.
Michaleo was able to reach Kindred with the Elves of Felegoth primarily doing Elves quests using rep accelerators and doing task items. He reached kindred a few quests before he ran out of Felegoth quests.
Wrytune was able to reach Kindred with the Men of Dale primarily doing Dale and Lake-town quests using rep accelerators and doing task items. He reached kindred a few quests before he ran out of Dale quests.
Nodread reached only Ally with the Dwarves of Erebor before he ran out of quests, doing only Erebor quests and using rep acclerators and doing task items. However, I just discovered that there are more Erebor quests in a quest line that leads from Loeglond through Lake-town and Dale to Erebor, with the quest Concerning Dragons.
My plan of starting the factions on separate characters has mostly worked, except for this long quest line that runs through the other factions to finish the Erebor quests. Of course, if you weren't trying to get to kindred quickly for a faction, you could do the Elves quests first, then the Men, and wait until the quest line took you to Erebor to do the Dwarves.
There was only a handful of additional Erebor quests. I will be able to reach Kindred with another day of task items.
Doing all of the Erebor quests with accelerators but without any task items only got me half way through Friend. That means there are only about 21,000 rep points in the Erebor quests, which only gets you half way through Acquaintance without accelerators or task items.
When you get the quest Tracking the Lost to search for the Beornings, Thorlind will start following you. He has 384k morale, and will happily defend you and attack mobs you attack. You can do other quests and have a strong skirmish soldier with you. He wouldn't go into Caras Tilion, but Nodread appreciated the extra DPS as he did landscape quests.
