Exploring the White City: The Blue Theatre of Minas Tirith
Tolkien's vision of Minas Tirith has been beautifully brought to life in Update 17. Players continuing the epic story that leads to the defense of the city see it unfold tier by tier from the outer most circles occupied by the working class to the inner areas where the ruling class reside and work in white marbled buildings with terraced gardens, fine dining halls and centers for art, literature and music.
There are more areas in Minas Tirith that can be used for RP than any other region. Many of the buildings are meticulously designed for use by players inside and out. The buildings & statues have 97 Plaques highlighting points of interest you can discover to earn the Explorers of Minas Tirith Meta Deed.
- Guests of the White City (10 Stables & Guesthouses)
- Taverns of the White City (13 Taverns)
- Teachings of the White City (5 Centers for Knowledge & Learning)
- Vaults of the White City (6 Storehouses for Money & Provisions)
- Workings of the White City (4 Halls of Law & Commerce)
This introduction to the exploration of Minas Tirith will highlight the Blue Theatre, located in the Fourth Circle and the largest of three theatres in Minas Tirith. The other two, The Stone Theatre (1st Circle, 63.5S, 19.6W) and The Hall of Air (5th Circle, 64.9S, 19.5W) are open air theatres.
Access to the Blue Theatre is available to anyone. Those under level 80 can purchase a trip to the theatre by using 1 Mithril Coin at the stablemaster in South Bree which opens up the ability to travel to Minas Tirith.
The entrance hall has seating for those waiting for the performance to begin. The ceiling is decorated with stars against a deep blue background
The performance hall includes seating for a large audience. The second floor balcony surrounds the entire theatre and includes plush high backed armchairs.
Beyond the drapes behind the seating are the upper level dining and lounge areas.
The lounges of the upper levels are quiet & comfortable. The lower level features two tavern like dining areas.
Additional areas on the lower levels highlight the bustle of performers back stage. Steps to the rear of the stage area & the blue backdrop of the
curtain can be seen just over the musician's shoulders.
Also toward the back of the lower levels are the performers' dressing rooms, lounging and sleeping areas, with private baths, laundry and costume storage
rooms. There is also a study where a playwright works at a candlelit table.
The Blue Theatre includes an optional quest entitled "Bustle in the Blue Theatre". The quest is bestowed by Polla Stoutley, a member of a band of players
called The Cloudyheads. You can find Polla at The Hall of Air (64.9S, 19.5W) in the Fifth Circle.
