ArchivesCreating a Storage Alt on a Free AccountPlaying LOTRO, you will obtain many useful items. Not all of them are useful immediately. For players who hate to throw away something that might be useful to yourself or others, there are challenges to find the space to store them and subsequently to find the items you have saved. Storage can be expensive. You can increase bag space by 5 slots for all your characters for 325 Turbine Points (TP). Vault storage (after you’ve bought all you can with game gold) is 895-995 TP for 15 slots for a single character. Shared storage is 595-695 TP for 10 slots. Housing storage (after you’ve bought all you can with game gold) is 100 Mithril Coins (MC) (which costs 850 TP) for 15 slots. One way to get more storage “free” is to create a separate free-to-play account with a storage alt, a character that exists just to keep things for the characters that you play. It takes less than an hour to get a new character through the intro and to a vault in Bree, Thorin’s Hall, or Michel Delving. Once there, they pretty much stay at the vault. Your “real” characters supply the storage alt with some gold to buy 60 vault slots. It also gets 45 bag inventory slots. A free account gets to... If you play for very long, you will find your bags and vault full of things that you may or may not need. I have multiple alts that I play, so I want to pass items to the alts that can use them. I’m a hoarder, so I hate to throw away things that I or someone else might eventually use. I have alts that are used just to store things. Some alts are on separate accounts, which allows them to buy houses. Keeping track of what is where takes time and effort, but pays off when I or a kinmate can use something I happen to have. This note describes some of the things I do to manage storage in LOTRO. Some of the techniques may seem extreme (until Turbine adds another crafting tier, and you need to find room for a bunch of new resources and craft ingredients). Others may be useful even to beginners. Inventory bagsInventory bags are where things go when you first get them, and are the things you carry around with you. You may have different amounts depending on whether or not you are VIP, and on which expansions you have. Additional bag storage can be purchased for Turbine Points (TP) in 5 slot increments. Since Update 13,... More by Michaleo on 2015-10-16 12:54:48 Generating Commendations as a CreepThis is one way to farm commendations. It assumes you will be able to get to the various spots relatively easily. If the freeps are running wild, it will take a little longer. There are two plans: the first generates 190 commendations in less than an hour, assuming the creeps control Lugazag and you aren’t harassed too much. It can be immediately repeated. The second plan generates up to 190 + 170 + 500 + 30 = 890, but requires items that can be turned in and access to Tol Ascarnen on two different days. The items can be accumulated easily by any higher-rank creeps that you play and mailed to the temporary creep. (If you don’t plan to play any creeps, create a Reaver to accumulate the items, and a Stalker to be the temporary creep.) You will turn in a total of 10 quests in Tol Ascarnen. You can choose the quests based on the availability of items. Some quests produce a few more commendations. You also do the scouting and poisoning quests on the second day. Create a new creep of any class you aren’t using. You’ll dispose of it and recreate it to make more commendations, so don’t spend anything on it. You don’t plan to do any fighting with the creep, so avoid freeps. Do the... More by Michaleo on 2015-10-15 09:04:04 Early Impressions of PvMP[There is a lot of stuff here that is new to me. Please let me know if you find errors.] With the arrival of the new area for PvMP aka Monster Play, I decided to give it a try. Overall, it is too complicated to try to explain here, but I want to capture various notes before I forget them. You have the choice of playing for the Free Peoples (freeps), which are the same characters played in the rest of the game, or the bad guys (creeps), which are completely new characters that are only in PvMP. PvMP is free for VIP accounts. VIPs can take any character level 20+ to the PvMP area, or can create any creep class free. Premium and f2p players can play as freeps for 20 Mithril Coins (MC) for 6 hours of playing time. On the creep side, Premium and f2p players can play only the Reaver class free, but can buy other classes with Turbine Points (TP). There is no charge for playing time as a creep. Similar to the rest of the game, non-VIPs will have to buy additional trait slots with TP to reach the full potential of their creeps. FreepsYou can take any level 20+ character into the PvMP area. It is scaled to 100 if necessary. You use the same skills and gear. An ordinary player can play in PvMP, but will... More by Michaleo on 2015-10-15 08:52:24 |
